Our community is feeling the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Australian Bureau of Statistics recently announced that employment in Queensland had fallen by 129,600 people in April.

Each year, Suited to Success and Dress for Success Brisbane help approximately 1,200 women and men throughout Queensland. But today, we’re asking for your help. Our goal is to raise $15,087. This will pay our rent and electricity bills for the next three months.

Like many small organisations, we are struggling. While our income has slowed down, our expenses have not. We rely on social enterprise activities to fund 44% of our services. In March, we made the difficult decision to postpone three shopping events, which were projected to raise $34,000.

Helping us pay our rent means so much more than paying for ‘a building’. It means:

• Creating a space where a woman looks at herself in the mirror, and sees not only a beautiful interview outfit, but possibility and hope for the future
• Giving a young person the confidence and self-esteem to break the cycle of unemployment in their family by securing their first job
• Providing a hub that delivers job-skills workshops, career coaching, and peer networking at no cost to the people who need them.

When a person steps into our special space, they also step into a community. A community who sees them, who supports them, and who is committed to helping them thrive in work and in life.

We are adapting to the changing environment as quickly as we can. Our team is small but determined. Funding our rent for the next three months, gives us the time we need to develop other income streams.

We know our services are about to become more important than ever. Many more Queenslanders will need our support in overcoming barriers to employment. We are committed to making sure we are still here for them. But we need your help.
