Restore a Wardrobe Today.
Your donation could restore the wardrobe of someone in need.
Wardrobe restoration is a free service we have begun offering, in response to the need within our community. This service can be provided both in-person and remotely.
It involves gifting our clients with more than a weeks’ worth of clothing, including: casual and formal clothing and shoes, undergarments, toiletries, make-up, jewellery, and other accessories. Generally, clients accessing this service are gifted with between 30 and 50 items.
While many of us have casually said “I have nothing to wear” – this service supports people for who this is their reality. Some have left their homes with only the clothes they were wearing.
People accessing this service include: newly arrived refugees, people who have lost their clothing in natural disasters, and people who have experienced domestic and family violence.
Like Tetiana, who arrived in Australia with her husband and son – and just four items of clothing. With so many expenses, purchasing the type of clothing they needed was simply not an option. Over several visits to Suited to Success and working with our volunteer stylists, the family was able to rebuild their casual and work wardrobes. Tetiana shares “we were given so many things. I was amazed. It was so much more than I expected. And the clothes are really nice! It was such a huge help. Especially because I didn’t know how I could start a new job in the clothes that I had.”
For Tetiana, being gifted a new wardrobe meant she did not have to worry about what she would wear or how she would appear – instead, she could use her energy to face the other challenges ahead. She shares “Everything changes when you have the clothes that make you feel confident and professional. Because then you can conduct yourself more confidently, it’s magic.”
We know there are many more people in our community who need this type of support. So with your help, in 2023 we are expanding this service.
Gifting someone with a new wardrobe is about much more than the clothing they receive. It’s about saying ‘we see you’ and ‘we believe in you’ and ‘you are welcome here’. It’s about community care and connection.
Tetiana shares:
“I was a bit shy when I first arrived, as asking for help is not easy. But being so warmly welcomed changed the mood – I felt relaxed and accepted”.
Or, as our client Nicole recently shared:
“It’s about more than just the clothes. I was treated with dignity, compassion and understanding.”
The clothing we are distributing has been donated by our wonderful community. This includes individuals, fashion retailers, businesses, and other charities like GIVIT and Thread Together.
Your financial support means we can help more people in need. Donations to Suited to Success go straight to work – restoring wardrobes, building confidence and self-belief, and powering hope for the future.
Please know that your donation will make a difference.
